September Monthly Meeting (Sept 12, 2025)

ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH, 6:00-8:00 PM--ART CHASE, the Citadel's Athletic Director, will be with us. We are going to meet at the Country Club of Spartanburg. It should be an informative meeting after we have just played North Dakota State and play Gardner Webb the next day in Boiling Springs, NC.

August Monthly Meeting (Aug 21, 2025)

Pamela Evette, Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina, will be with us and we look forward to hearing from her and what is going on in our state. This meeting is open to anyone and if you have someone you would like to bring that is perfectly fine!. I've heard from her staff and she is coming to speak with us in her role as LT Governor of SC. As a disclaimer, Citadel Clubs are not allowed to endorse any candidates for any type of office.

KNOB Send off for Class of 2029
|
|
We will host our annual KNOB event before they matriculate in August. We have, so far, 8 KNOBS and their parents attending on the 19th. Also, LTC Tim Terese will be our speaker and Army 1st LT Caymen Williams, ’20 from the Admissions Department will be there to answer questions for the KNOBS and Parents. We have three upperclassmen coming, Mac Russell, Charlie Millinor, and Julia Williamson who all have been to our KNOB send off events in the past. All three are rising juniors and we look forward to having them speak with the KNOBS.

Citadel vs Wofford Tailgate (Nov 16, 2024)

The Spartanburg Area Citadel Club's tailgate at The Citadel vs Wofford football game will begin at 11:00 AM on November 16. The cost is $20/person, which includes the bar, but donations toward the cost of the bar will also be accepted. The tailgate will be held on the visitor's side of Gibbs Stadium, entering off Pine Street next to the Starbucks.

November Month Meeting (Nov 14, 2024)

On Thursday, November 14th, John Warley, '67, an award winning writer, attorney, and author of "The Citadel at War" will be our guest speaker. A complete bio of his accomplishments will be available at our meeting. He has quite a career of service to the Citadel and we look forward to his sharing of Citadel history to our membership.

KNOB Send off event (June 6, 2024)
|

Our Knob Send Off will be on Thursday June 6, 2024 from 5:30 to 7:00 at the Country Club of Spartanburg! Again, we will feature a BBQ dinner and to cover our Knobs and guests, it will be $25 per person. I've based this upon 40 alumni coming, but hopefully we can cover all our expenses until we collect dues in July. A cash bar will be available. We need you to RSVP by Friday, May 31st through our app or email me so we can get an accurate number of those attending! I will follow up with our Knob Send Off event toward the end of May!

Citadel Head Football Coach Maurice T. Drayton, Citadel 98
Maurice T. Drayton (born October 5, 1976) is an American football coach and former player who is currently
the head coach of The Citadel Bulldogs. He has previously coached the Charleston Swamp Foxes, Seinajoki
Crocodiles, Goose Creek High School, South Carolina State Bulldogs, Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, Southern
Miss Golden Eagles, Montreal Alouettes, Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers, and Las Vegas Raiders. Coach
Drayton is our current head football coach after accepting this role in December 2022.
Citadel Head Basketball Coach Ed Conroy, Citadel 89
Conroy announced his return to The Citadel on March 23, 2022. During his first stint as head coach there from
2006-2010, he led the Bulldogs to their first 20-win season in over 30 years during the 2008-2009 season, in
which the Bulldogs made the 2009 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament-to date, the only postseason
appearance in school history. He was selected as the SoCon Coach of the Year by the league's head coaches
and media members. He was also named the NABC District 22 Coach of the Year, CollegeInsider.com. Coach of
the Year and the Skip Prosser Man of the Year.

Citadel Alumni Legislative BBQ on April 23, 2024 in Columbia, SC
|

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., The Citadel Alumni Association will host the 47th annual Citadel Alumni Legislative Barbecue in the Goodman Building at the State Fairgrounds in Columbia. The barbecue provides alumni and friends of The Citadel an opportunity to express appreciation to the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, the State Constitutional Officers and the Judiciary for their support of the college.

The Spartanburg Area Citadel Club Annual Muster will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024

Time: 5:30pm-7:00pm
Location: The Country Club of Spartanburg (2500 Country Club Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302)
Our Annual Muster will be Thursday, March 21 at the Country Club of Spartanburg where we will recognize
those alumni who have passed in 2023. As usual, a cash bar and we will up our Hors D'oeuvres selection for
this particular meeting. No dinner, but you won't starve!
Also, we are fortunate to have as our speaker for the evening Commander Jeff Lamberson, USN (Ret.) Vice
President of Facilities and Engineering, who will update us on all the new additions and renovations at The
Citadel. I think you’ll find this to be a most informative talk on how we are continuing to improve our
campus facilities.

Our next meeting is a sponsored Citadel Admissions event with General Glenn Walters, '79,
President, Dr. Sally Selden, Provost Marshall and Chad Fabor, Director of Admissions at the
Citadel. We would like to have a good turnout and ask that you consider bringing any future
cadets to hear them speak. All spouses and guests are invited. With the admissions office
coordinating this event, it will be a dry event and our emphasis for the night will be on the
attendance of incoming freshmen. There will be hors d'oeuvres. We'll need your help in
inviting any future cadets and parents so we can have a big turnout.
